The Safeway Foundation Recognizes Hyacinth’s Place
Hyacinth’s Place was honored in February with a $25,000 grant from the Safeway Foundation. The Safeway chain of supermarkets operates across 35 states and has a strong local presence in the District of Columbia.
Each year, employees of Safeway stores select organizations to receive grants through their “We Care” initiative. The purpose is to recognize the work of non-profit organizations in the community. This year, Camille McKenzie (senior executive staff), suggested Hyacinth’s Place as a grant recipient, acknowledging their work around affordable housing with support services for homeless, mentally ill women in Washington DC.
Hyacinth’s Place’s Chief Executive Officer Urla Barrow (pictured second from right) was presented with the $25,000 grant. Hyacinth’s Place greatly appreciates the wonderful donation that will be used to provide continued support of the nonprofit’s work.
