A Place to Call Home

Located in Ward 5 in Washington, DC, Hyacinth’s Place provides permanent, affordable housing and comprehensive supportive services for women who have experienced homelessness and are living with mental health conditions. In collaboration with the DC Department of Behavioral Health, we offer therapeutic, social, and practical support that promotes emotional well-being, financial stability, and vocational development.

Serving women from all eight wards of Washington, DC, we recognize that homelessness is often intertwined with poverty, histories of trauma and abuse, racial and gender inequities, and barriers to mental health care. Our approach respects each woman’s individual experiences and aspirations while providing the stability and support needed to build greater independence and improve her quality of life.

Our $3.5 million, four-story development encompasses 9,228 square feet and provides 15 furnished studio apartments, each with a private bathroom and kitchenette. The building also includes staff offices, laundry facilities, and spaces for group activities. Designed with green building principles, the property reflects the spirit of renewal and regeneration that inspired its creation.
