On Monday, October 19, 2026, Councilmember Zachary Parker of Ward 5 visited Hyacinth’s Place, accompanied by members of his staff, to learn more about the organization’s work providing affordable housing and supportive services to formerly homeless women.

Affordable housing and homelessness are key priorities for Councilmember Parker as he advocates for the needs of his Ward 5 constituents and the broader District of Columbia community. During his visit, the Councilmember toured the facility, learned about Hyacinth’s Place programs and services, and had the opportunity to meet and speak with several residents who have transitioned from homelessness to stable housing.

The visit provided a valuable opportunity to discuss shared priorities, explore potential areas of collaboration, and identify ways to strengthen efforts to address homelessness and expand access to affordable housing in the District of Columbia.

Also participating in the meeting were senior representatives of the DC Department of Behavioral Health (DBH) and members of the Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC). Their presence contributed to a productive discussion about the challenges facing Hyacinth’s Place and the barriers that can hinder the timely and effective delivery of services to vulnerable residents.

Councilmember Parker graciously expressed his willingness to help address the challenges presented and explore opportunities for collaboration and support.
